An Important Request from STOP Foodborne Illness
This summer I had the remarkable opportunity to meet several members of STOP Foodborne Illness who had come to California on a tour hosted by the California Leafy Greens Marketing Agreement. To say this was a life-changing experience for us all would not be an exaggeration.
I cannot tell you how much hearing the stories of these individuals whose lives have been impacted by foodborne illness renewed my own commitment to producing the safest leafy greens possible. In turn, the people from STOP were visibly impressed with our efforts once they learned more about all we do to prevent contamination of our products from foodborne pathogens.
Admittedly, there was a bit of apprehension prior to the meeting of our two groups. But in the end, what we all learned was how much we have in common when it comes to our work to prevent foodborne illness.
Please read this letter from STOP Foodborne Illness CEO Deirdre Schlunegger who is seeking help from the leafy greens community as part of her organization’s 2013 Fall Fundraising Campaign. I hope you will take the time to read this and learn more about this important organization and its activities. It is most certainly an effort worth supporting.
