The Centers for Disease Control has announced that it is investigating a multi-state outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infections. According to an announcement by the CDC, epidemiologic and laboratory evidence available to date indicate that packaged salads produced at the Dole processing facility in Springfield, Ohio are the likely source of this outbreak.
CDC states there is no evidence to suggest that other leafy greens products are affected and the LGMA has not been contacted by health authorities involved in this investigation. As always, the LGMA stands ready to assist authorities should it become necessary. In the meantime, our sympathies are with those affected by this tragic outbreak.
Consumers who have questions or concerns should visit the CDC website here.
