December
In the year 2007 were no reported cases of food borne illness related to leafy greens grown by LGMA members.
November
Mexico’s Federal Commission for the Protection Against Sanitary Risks announced it would allow importation of lettuce and leafy greens from California provided the product is grown and shipped by LGMA member companies.
July
California Department of Food and Agriculture inspectors began conducting mandatory audits of LGMA member companies for compliance with food safety practices.
June
Canadian Food Inspection Agency opens border to all California leafy green products, but requires that such products be grown and shipped by LGMA member companies.
May
The LGMA Advisory Board announced that Scott Horsfall would be filling the position of Chief Executive Officer and leading the organization.
April
The LGMA began administering its program and California Department of Food and Agriculture inspectors began conducting informational audits of its members.
March
The LGMA Advisory Board reviewed and accepted a set of mandatory food safety practices.
February
The LGMA was officially formed when Secretary AG Kawamura, of the California Department of Food and Agriculture, appointed an Advisory Board comprised of 13 members and one public representative.

2006

October
Industry decided to pursue a California Marketing Agreement, through the California Department of Food and Agriculture, that would create a standardized food safety system for California leafy greens.
